The FA confirmed in an update to their youth squad announcement that Miguel Azeez pulled out of the England u19 squad for the current international break. According to Jeorge Bird, Azeez had to withdraw due to injury.

Initially, the u19s were supposed to face Scotland in November, but the games were cancelled and replaced with a training camp. Unfortunately, Azeez can’t take part, with Aston Villa’s Aaron Ramsey (no relation) taking his place.

Azeez is one of Arsenal’s top midfield prospects, stepping up to become an u23 starter this season. He had arguably his best game of the campaign so far against senior opposition in Crawley Town, scoring the winner and created three chances.

As well as the goal, he also played an excellent through ball to Kido Taylor-Hart, who assisted the opener. So there’s no doubt Azeez earned the 2-1 win that night.

Things haven’t gone quite so smoothly since then. He featured in the 10-man defeat to Manchester City and another narrow loss to Liverpool, before missing the 6-0 win over Blackburn. Perhaps this injury explains why he wasn’t involved on that occasion.

Regardless, the 18-year-old is a big talent and we hope to see him back fit and on the pitch again soon.
