TheAFCBell report that Arsenal have recently started talks with the representatives of Dominik Szoboszlai over a potential transfer. The talks are still in the initial stages right now, with no final decision, but the club are impressed with the player.

Speaking on the Futbol Podcast recently, RB Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch admitted it’s likely Szoboszlai could leave in the winter window.

“Yes. The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter,” Marsch said.

“He’s an incredible talent, and I say this: When you coach young players, you have to love them and love the fact that they’re going to move on and love that they’re going to have big opportunities to prove themselves and show how good they are.”

This echos recent reports from Szoboszlai’s agent, as he admitted: “Obviously, it’s no secret that Dominik is closer now to leaving the Austrian league. Whether it’s in January or next summer…”

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports that Szoboszlai is on Arsenal’s shortlist, after scouting him for over a year. He’s not their only option, and they aren’t his only potential destination, but the Gunners are certainly in the race.

Part of what makes Szoboszlai so appealing is his reported €25m release clause. Even with four other clubs chasing him and 14 goal contributions in 13 club games this season, the 20-year-old’s price won’t go up.

Over the November break, Szoboszlai scored an injury-time winner to send Hungary to the Euros. For such a young player, he certainly has plenty of big moments in his career already.
