Arsenal recorded a rare Premier League away win against a member of the ‘big six’ on Sunday, overcoming Manchester United with a 1-0 victory. There were a few top individual performances, but two players caught Garth Crooks’ eye.

The BBC Team of the Week included both Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey. On Gabriel, Crooks said he was “at the heart of an outstanding defensive display” with the report adding that the defender made more tackles than any other player on the pitch.

As for Partey, Crooks wrote that he “looks fit, strong and up for any battle – while his ability to intercept and break up the opposition’s play on Sunday was outstanding”. He also gave credit to Mohamed Elneny, as their partnership shone at the weekend.

Partey didn’t make WhoScored’s Team of the Week, but Gabriel did. With a 7.81 rating, he was the highest-rated Premier League centre-back over the weekend. They highlight his 92% pass accuracy, five clearances, and two interceptions, as well as the five tackles.

As always, it’s great to see Arsenal players getting some recognition, particularly two summer signings. Right now, it looks like the club made a couple of solid purchases in the most recent window.
