Bukayo Saka feels blessed after another exciting week for him personally, capping it off with a Man of the Match performance against Sheffield United.

We’ve already had plenty of landmark weeks for Bukayo Saka in his young career, but this was certainly another one.

The 19-year-old got his first England call-up earlier in mid-week, admitting his pride at the chance to represent his country. He also played the majority of the match as Arsenal knocked Liverpool out of the League Cup.

But there was one more big positive for the youngster before he heads off with his new England teammates. He scored his first senior Emirates Stadium goal against Sheffield United in a 2-1 win for Arsenal, winning the Man of the Match award on top of it.

Saka is clearly happy with how things are going for him right now.

“All the things happening to me, I feel so blessed,” he said after. “The England call-up, today with the goal – I’m just a happy man. I don’t get a lot of headers, but this one came so perfectly to me I had to put it in. I went with full confidence and luckily it went in.

“I’m trying to do my best, anytime the boss picks me it’s for a reason. He has confidence in me so I try to repay the trust and faith that he puts in me.”

Arsenal didn’t do so well against Sheffield United last year, so Saka knew it would be a fight to get a result this time around.

“We give so much credit to Sheffield (United) because they’re such a good side, they made it really difficult for us today. We’re just happy to get the win because we know how tough it is to play against them.”
