French outlet Telefoot Chaine report that Saint-Etienne are pushing to take William Saliba back on loan this season. He’s their top priority option to replace Wesley Fofana, who left for Leicester City this summer.

Earlier today, the most likely option for Saliba was a move to fellow Premier League club Fulham. Rennes were previously the favourites before signing Daniele Rugani on loan, at which point a return to France looked very unlikely.

However, Saliba’s former club are reviving the chances of another year in his home country. They were trying to sign Panagiotis Retsos from Bayer Leverkusen, but that move is falling through over their inability to cover his wages.

GFFN add that Saliba would be very happy to return to Saint-Etienne, feeling he has unfinished business there. They add that a Premier League club (not Fulham) is also after him, though. In any case, it would be a loan move, Arsenal certainly aren’t selling.

It seems Arsenal and the centre-back will have a busy day finalising his decision.
