Matteo Guendouzi arrived in the summer of 2018 and we were told he was ‘one for the future but it seems that future lies away from north London.

Thrown into the first team by Unai Emery who most definitely overused the young midfielder, adding to his already grand ideas about himself.

Hertha Berlin tried to sign Guendouzi earlier in the summer and while he didn’t seem bothered about resurrecting his Arsenal career, he didn’t have any interest in playing for Hertha Berlin.

A number of clubs were offered the player, including Lyon as Arsenal tried to sign Houssem Aouar, but nobody wanted him.

Except Hertha.

There is no option to buy, a stipulation Guendouzi’s camp are said to have insisted on before authorising the move.

He will have one year left on his Arsenal deal when his loan in Germany finishes.
