Matteo Guendouzi turned down the chance to join Hertha Berlin a few months ago but with little-to-no interest in him from any other clubs and no future at Arsenal, he has accepted a deal to join the Germans.

As reported on Sunday night, there is no loan fee and Guendouzi’s camp insisted on no option to buy.

Guendouzi will have just one year left on his Arsenal deal when his loan is over and the player who arrived as ‘one for the future’ but was thrust into the Arsenal first team on a regular basis by Unai Emery, inflating an already over-sized ego, will have a lot of self-reflection to do. If he can, that is.
