Every year, The Guardian put together a list of the top 60 young talents in world football right now. This year, they name Arsenal’s Flores among the group.

Flores is currently the Arsenal academy top scorer this season, with three goals in four games. He recently signed a long-term professional contract with the club, and he’s certainly an exciting young winger.

Rather bizarrely, The Guardian didn’t actually pick Flores as Arsenal’s best young player in their other Next Generation 2020 article.

Instead, they chose Charlie Patino – no doubt a good choice, but an odd one given Patino wasn’t on their top 60 talents list, written by the same three people.

Ignoring that inconsistency, let’s just be happy both youngsters are getting proper recognition. They’re top talents, and we can only hope they follow in the footsteps of The Guardian’s 2018 choice, Bukayo Saka.

For those who have never seen them play, Flores is a fast and skilful winger with a powerful shot. Patino is a midfielder with strong passing and close-control dribbling earning him comparisons to a young Jack Wilshere.

For the time being, they’ll both continue to develop with the u18s.
