William Saliba has yet to make the Arsenal starting lineup or play a minute for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta does his best to help the teenager acclimatise to life in a new country.

Speaking after Arsenal’s win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, Arteta said, “He had a year last year where Arsenal loaned him to St Etienne and that was a transition year for him.

“For many reasons, that wasn’t the transition year that he needed because he had a lot of injuries, some personal injuries and also with COVID and the French league getting cancelled, he didn’t have that year.

“He needs that year of transition and we are trying to make the right decisions for him to give him the best transitional year for him to have the player we want in our future.”

Now, the Daily Mail report Arsenal have entered talks with Rennes about sending him on loan again, picking up their information from Ouest-France.

Rennes will play in the Champions League this season and it is believed they want to beef up their squad at the back.

Ouest-France report that Rennes now see Saliba as a better option than Daniele Rugani who has been heavily linked with a move from Juventus to Ligue 1 and was said to be close to a €2m loan move himself.
