Arsenal have reportedly accepted a €24m offer for Lucas Torreira and it seems only a matter of time before a deal is agreed and the midfielder leaves the club, whether that be on loan with an obligation or an option or permanently.

Lucas Torreira, who called signing for Arsenal the ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ is heading for the exit door just over two years after arriving at club.

While there will be plenty of discussion in the coming days and weeks as to why a player the club seemed to want so much didn’t quite work out as planned, Arsenal will still turn a profit on the player while shifting his £75kw wages off the books if they are selling him for €24m.

That’s not bad going for a player who was the second most subbed-on player for Arsenal last season after Joe Willock. Of course, there are conflicting reports and it is not a certainty that he will leave permanently this summer.

Still, where would this €24m (£22.14m) rank in terms of Arsenal’s top sales over the years?

Arsenal have sold 11 players for £20m or so in the Premier League era.

At £22.14m Torreira wouldn’t quite crack the top 10, coming in at 11, above Theo Walcott for whom Everton paid the not insignificant sum of £20.25m.

It isn’t, however, enough to knock Thierry Henry off 10th place. Barcelona paid us a paltry £21.6m for his services in 2010.
