Doncaster Rovers and Arsenal announced a loan move for Tyreece John-Jules on Tuesday afternoon. The striker will spend the season with Doncaster, who previously took Ben Sheaf on loan last year.

Unfortunately, John-Jules arrived just too late to feature in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy fixture against Bradford. He’ll get the chance to make the squad for the first time this Saturday against MK Dons at 15:00 BST.

Doncaster Rovers don’t really have an out-and-out striker in their senior squad at the moment. There’s certainly an opening for John-Jules to nail down his spot.

Combine that with the fact they were so good with Sheaf last season, and you can see why Arsenal decided it was the right place to send the teenager. Rovers gave Sheaf 38 appearances despite ending their season early due to COVID-19.

After a strong start to the 2019/20 season with the Arsenal academy, John-Jules got a loan to Lincoln City. Whilst that started well too, with a goal on his home debut, he suffered a couple of injuries in the first couple of months. Then the season ended early.

This time around, back in League One, John-Jules will hopefully get the chance to start regularly. Good luck to him for the new campaign!
