PSG are keen to sign Matteo Guendouzi, and the player wants the move, but finalising the manner of the transfer is a long way off.

Fabrizio Romano reports that we should keep an eye on PSG as potential suitors for Matteo Guendouzi this summer. The club are reportedly considering a swap deal for Guendouzi with Julian Draxler, but it’s not a done deal.

RMC Sport add that PSG have been thinking about Guendouzi since the start of August. They held an initial meeting in Lisbon over the player, but there are complications.

RMC claim PSG want to include Draxler in a deal, but the player doesn’t want to leave. Guendouzi wants the move, and the Ligue 1 club are also considering a loan with a compulsory purchase option next summer. But the transfer is at a standstill right now.

Atletico Madrid are also in the race, despite the fact they wouldn’t consider a swap deal for Thomas Partey.

The timing of this news is certainly interesting. Guendouzi captained the France u21s to two wins this week, before finally returning to squad training with Arsenal. It can’t be a coincidence that this is when PSG’s interest leaks.

Perhaps those positive performances and the first hint Guendouzi might be reintegrated into the Arsenal squad gave PSG the kick they needed to get moving. Either way, I’d expect more progress on this front as the month goes on.
