LazioPress reported late last week that Lazio are currently negotiating the transfer of Shkodran Mustafi, and they have an agreement with the player over his salary. Talks are taking place between the club and Kujtim Mustafi, Shkodran’s father and agent.

They still need to finalise details relating to bonuses and so on, but it looks like personal terms won’t hold up the deal. Instead, we’re waiting to see if Lazio will make a reasonable bid to Arsenal for the defender.

Various English outlets wrote about the possibility of a transfer for Mustafi earlier in the week. Whilst they all agreed there was interest from a couple of clubs, particularly in Italy, the situation was in the early stages at that point.

Nobody ever ruled out the possibility of a departure, but it was always likely to drag on.

Mustafi has under a year left on his current deal, so it’s really now or never for a sale. Arsenal need to free up squad space and bring in some cash for incomings. With a week left until deadline day, things really need to start moving now.
