Arsenal have finally announced that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has agreed to stay at the club for a further two years in addition to the remaining year he had on his contract.
We all hoped that Mikel Arteta’s relentless optimism that Aubameyang would sign a new deal would translate into actual ink on paper and, despite it being reportedly agreed many times over, this is really it and we even have the official announcement to prove it.
Details of his new contract can be found here.
“Signing for this special club was never in doubt,” Auba said. “It’s thanks to our fans, my team-mates, my family and everybody at this club that I feel like I belong here. I believe in Arsenal. We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal.”
Since signing for Arsenal at the start of 2018, Aubameyang has scored an incredible 72 goals, with 15 assists, in 111 games.
Aubameyang is currently 10th highest goalscorer in the history of Arsenal during the Premier League era, moving ahead of Freddie Ljungberg with his goal against Fulham. He needs just another eight goals to equal Alexis Sanchez’s 80.

But where does he rank when you bring in players who played for the club before the Premier League started as well?

With Auba to stay at Arsenal for another three years, if we estimate he will score 20-a-year at the club, a conservative estimate for sure, he would equal Robin van Persie’s total.
The smart money is on Aubameyang to knock the Dutch Skunk further down the list. He might even be able to catch Lishman, Drake and Brain.
