Cork City took on Shamrock Rovers first thing on Saturday, but Joseph Olowu missed out with injury. City lost 3-0 in his absence.

In the 3pm kickoffs, Ben Sheaf made his debut for Coventry City from the bench, playing 30 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Bristol City. Sheaf has an obligation to buy in his contract active after a certain number of appearances, so that’s the first on the way.

Tyreece John-Jules earned positive reviews on his own debut, making his first start for Doncaster Rovers against MK Dons. They were winning 1-0 when he came off after 78 minutes, but slipped to a 1-1 draw in the dying moments.

Zech Medley overcame an injury scare in his last game to start alongside Trae Coyle against Hull City. Coyle struggled to get into the game, coming off at half-time.

Medley completed 90 minutes and made 13 clearances, as well as one off the line, but Gillingham lost 2-0.

Jordi Osei-Tutu made his first Championship start for Cardiff City against Sheffield Wednesday. He played the full 90 minutes, but they also lost 2-0.

Not much good news on the results front so far, but things went better for Matt Smith and Swindon Town. They won 3-1 against Rochdale, with Smith scoring one of his team’s goals.

Finally, Zak Swanson played 69 minutes as MVV Maastricht overcame their damaging 7-1 defeat last weekend to beat SC Telstar 2-1. Telstar dominated the possession and the chances, so it was a busy day for the right-back.
