Pablo Mari appears to have suffered a minor setback in his recovery from ankle surgery that has kept him out of action since 17 June when we played Manchester City.

The 27-year-old required surgery on the ankle problem he picked up against City a few months ago and Arsenal had expected him back in training before September was over but their latest update now states he will be out a further two weeks.

On 22 September, Arsenal wrote in their Team News update ahead of the game against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup that Pablo Mari was “Aiming to return to full training by the end of September.”

In their latest update ahead of the Liverpool game in the same competition, they said Mari is, “Aiming to return to full training within the next two weeks.”

Mari has played just 203 minutes for Arsenal since he was signed in January on a loan deal that became permanent for £7.2m.

He has missed 18 games so far with this ankle problem and will miss at least two more.
