RAI Sport and Radio Kiss Kiss (via Football-Italia) report that Napoli are looking at two Arsenal defenders on their list of possible alternatives to the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes.

The first is no surprise, with the Serie A side showing an interest in Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Earlier this week we covered rumours that Sokratis is actually hoping Arsenal will cancel his contract so he can move to Napoli for free.

The second potential Napoli signing is Shkodran Mustafi. The German defender spent a couple of years in Serie A with Sampdoria earlier in his career. He’s currently out with a hamstring injury.

Napoli are also showing an interest in 20-year-old Jean-Clair Todibo of Barcelona.

Technically, Napoli are still in the race for Gabriel along with Arsenal and Manchester United. But it’s looking more and more likely the Lille defender decides on a move to the Premier League.

At that point, Napoli would need to look for an alternative replacement to Kalidou Koulibaly. The 29-year-old may well move to Manchester City this summer. Arsenal would presumably entertain any offers for Sokratis and Mustafi, so it would suit all parties if this rumour comes to anything.
