Gabriel Martinelli signed a contract extension with Arsenal earlier this summer, a deal which could take him all the way to 2025. Technically, it only lasts until 2024 initially, but the club have an option for a further year.

Martinelli had no hesitations about signing on, based on his recent interview with Desimpedidos. In fact, he suggests he’d happily sign another extension if Arsenal offered him one.

“I have just signed a five-year contract here and I will stay five years here,” Martinelli began. “If they renew with me again, I will stay at this club. I love, love this club. I dream of winning the league and the Champions League here.

“Arteta is the boss. I am trying to follow his path in being an idol at the club, winning trophies and being captain.”

Unfortunately, Martinelli is currently out with a knee injury that required surgery. He’s aiming to return this calendar year, but it’s unlikely to be anytime soon. For now, the 19-year-old will just have to watch on from the sidelines.

The Brazilian u23 international scored 10 goals and assisted four in his debut campaign in England. He also set up a goal for Alexandre Lacazette against Southampton, but a deflection on the cross robbed him of the official assist.

That’s an impressive return, particularly as he only started 15 games, coming off the bench in a further 11. If can return in similar form, there’s no doubt Arsenal will be offering him improved contracts in the coming years.
