Barcelona top Forbes’ Soccer Business Most Valuable Clubs list with Arsenal valued at $2.8bn in 8th place.
Forbes’ Business of Soccer list has been revealed and Arsenal find themselves in 8th place with Tottenham, despite not winning a trophy for 12 years (and that was a League Cup) closing rapidly on them.
Arsenal’s value has risen by $0.1 billion since last summer, which you can read about below.
Tottenham’s debt, however, is significantly more than Arsenal’s as you can see below:
Forbes also rank Arsenal’s shirt sponsorship deal as the 5th best in the world, behind Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, and PSG and just ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
Forbes’ Business of Soccer list
- Barcelona – $4.76billion (£3.46bn)
- Real Madrid – $4.75billion (£3.46bn)
- Bayern Munich – $4.22billion (£3.07bn)
- Manchester United – $4.2billion (£3.06bn)
- Liverpool – $4.1billion (£2.98bn)
- Manchester City – $4billion (£2.91bn)
- Chelsea – $3.2billion (£2.33bn)
- Arsenal – $2.8billion (£2.04bn)
- Paris Saint-Germain – $2.5billion (£1.82bn)
- Tottenham Hotspur – $2.3billion (£1.67bn)
Meanwhile, Stan Kroenke’s in-laws, the Waltons, top the Richest Families in America list with an estimated, and obscene, wealth of $247 billion.
Stan Kroenke himself comes in at 304 in Forbes list of Global wealth hoarders billionaires with $8.2 billion. He was 135th in 2020.
Manchester United are the only Premier League team to feature in the top 30 most valuable sports teams in the world with Arsenal coming in 47th.
Forbes have released their annual sports rich-off and it is no surprise to see NFL sides dominate with the Dallas Cowboys coming in top of the pile with a value of $5.5bn.
Manchester United appear in 10th place, valued at $3.81bn, making them the most valuable team in England but still some way behind Real Madrid (6th, $4.24bn) and Barcelona (8th, $4.02bn).
Just after them in 11th place is Stan Kroenke’s LA Rams, worth a reported $3.8bn, the only other one of his teams to make the list.
At 24, we find Bayern Munich valued at $3.02bn.
Manchester City come in at 34, valued at $2.69bn, but we all know that doesn’t really count.
Three places after City we find Chelsea, another who purchased their spot on the list, coming in at 37 with a value of $2.58bn.
Arsenal, with a value of $2.7bn, come in 47th, just above the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals and Major League Baseball’s St Louis Cardinals, both valued at $2.2bn.
Just above Arsenal sit the New Orleans Saints, another NFL side, valued at $2.28bn.
Premier League winners, Liverpool, do not place in the top 50 with the Boston Red Sox placing for their owner, John W. Henry.
Arsenal’s commercial department has been a consistent failure for quite some time now when stacked up beside others in the Premier League, not just Manchester United.
On the one hand, this leaves plenty of room into which the club can grow.
On the other, however, it means that there is significantly less cash to spend on improving the squad than there would have been if Ivan Gazidis had been any good at his job.
On few measures could he be said to have been a success at Arsenal yet he was offered a job at AC Milan with a 100% pay-increase just because his mate had bought the club.
For the record, Arsenal collected £3.6m for winning the FA Cup. Again.
