Arsenal aren’t looking to sign Joelson Fernandes and they aren’t speaking to Sporting CP or Kia Joorabchian about a move, according to the agent.

Joelson Fernandes’ agent Kia Joorabchian spoke to talkSPORT this week, and he took the chance to shoot down the rumours linking Arsenal to his client.

The Portuguese media spent most of the last month trying to convince everyone Arsenal were in regular contact with Joorabchian and Sporting over a move for Joelson. Most recently, A Bola claimed Arsenal made a €20m bid, which the player’s current club turned down.

Joorabchian definitively denied the reports in his appearance on English radio, however. He says they haven’t even been in contact with Arsenal over Joelson.

“It is so untrue,” Joorabchian said of an Arsenal offer for the player. “We haven’t even mentioned him to Arsenal.”

If even the player’s agent says it isn’t happening, I’d say there’s little doubt at this point. Joorabchian has every reason to play up the slightest rumour of Arsenal interest, to get his client a better deal elsewhere.

Given he’s shooting the transfer down instead, it looks like the Portuguese media made this one up themselves.
