Arsenal are evaluating loan offers for Tyreece John-Jules and fielding proposals for a permanent move for Folarin Balogun, according to reports.

Earlier this week, we covered reports suggesting Sam Greenwood is on the way out to Leeds United this summer. He’s not the only top academy forward leaving Arsenal, though. Folarin Balogun and Tyreece John-Jules also likely to make summer moves.

Football.London claim Arsenal are currently narrowing down loan destinations for John-Jules.

The 19-year-old has interest in the Championship and Europe, with Per Mertesacker, Edu and loan manager Ben Knapper narrowing down their options with talks in the coming days. The plan is still for him to play in the Arsenal first team in the long term.

As for Balogun, a permanent exit still looks likely. Arsenal are holding out for £8m from a sale.

Brentford and Southampton are two clubs expressing an interest domestically, whilst VfB Stuttgart are one of the teams pushing a move from abroad.

Alfie Matthews is also leaving, spending time on trial with Crystal Palace in recent weeks.

The net result is that the Gunners are likely to lose all four of their top academy forwards from last season. Add to that the departure of winger Nathan Tormey permanently, and Trae Coyle on loan to Gillingham.

If all the deals go through, the u23s are going to have a completely different attack this season.

New signing George Lewis won’t struggle for games, and young strikers like Luke Plange and Khayon Edwards may find themselves rising quickly through the ranks. As will the likes of Kido Taylor-Hart and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji from last season’s u18s.

It does seem possible Arsenal might return to the market for a teenage centre-forward if there’s one available.
