Ben Chilwell and James Maddison could both miss out on the Leicester City trip to Arsenal on Tuesday, according to head coach Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking ahead of the game against Arsenal, Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers claimed Ben Chilwell and James Maddison are big doubts for the clash.

Maddison picked up a hip injury against Everton last week, missing the weekend fixture against Crystal Palace as a result. Meanwhile, Chilwell came off at half-time with a foot problem. Rodgers says neither are certain to recover in time.

“We’ve got doubts over James Maddison and Ben Chilwell,” Rodgers said. “They’re the two that could struggle, but we’ll see how that is today. We just have to wait and see.

“There’s big doubts over both. It’s the bottom of Ben’s foot which is giving him pain so we’ll just have assess that and see what the specialists say. You can play through it, but you have to manage that. They’ll both be big doubts ahead of the game.”

Obviously, both players are starters when they’re available. The match against Crystal Palace was actually only the second league game Maddison missed all season. Chilwell can’t quite match that record, but he’s up to 27 league appearances out of 33.

Then again, Maddison went a bit off the boil before the injury. After scoring on the opening day of 2020, he didn’t provide a goal or assist in the next 15 games. So perhaps Arsenal shouldn’t focus too much on whether he’s in or out.
