Real Madrid are very close to signing off on another loan deal for Dani Ceballos, joining Arsenal again next season, and it’s down to the player himself now.

Madrid-based journalist David Vinuesa Malbac reports that Real Madrid are very close to giving their approval to another one-year loan for Dani Ceballos to Arsenal. Only the player’s refusal would change that now, and the Gunners have the deal in reach.

Ceballos reportedly knows he wouldn’t play under Zinedine Zidane. The most logical option for him is to continue playing for Arsenal, unless a Spanish team gets in the way.

Marca report that Real Betis might try and make themselves that team. They had regular contact with Ceballos this season, and he’s waiting to see what offer they put on the table before making a final decision.

The outlet add that Ceballos has an offer from another Premier League club to increase his salary.

Personally, my feeling is that Ceballos will return to Arsenal if he has the option. From his recent quotes, it seems like he’s keen on the idea. It’s also the safest route into the Spain squad for the European Championships.

Perhaps he’d get better exposure with a team in La Liga, but he has no way of knowing how he’d fit in. Perhaps he’d end up on the bench, or playing for a side where he couldn’t show his best qualities. He already knows what he’s getting at Arsenal.

We won’t get a decision until after the FA Cup final, of course. The result of that match is also likely to impact Arsenal’s summer business. So let’s put this rumour on hold until tomorrow.
