Norwich City announced on Tuesday that they’d completed the signing of Matthew Dennis on an initial two-year deal.

The player first hinted at a move in early June, posting “it’s been a pleasure, Arsenal” on Instagram. The club then confirmed his departure by listing him as ‘released’ on their Premier League retained list.

After that, it was clear where the 18-year-old was going. The Athletic suggested a move to Norwich and another Instagram post showed he was wearing the club’s training kit.

Dennis made 28 appearances for the Arsenal u18s and came off the bench once for the u23s this season. His highlight of the campaign was an excellent goal against Southampton in the FA Youth Cup fourth round. He scored two more in the league.

Dennis’ final appearance for the Gunners was actually against Norwich, coming off the bench for 34 minutes in an u18 fixture. Clearly, they liked what they saw.

After completing the move, Dennis posted on Instagram to confirm that his “12 years at this club has come to an end” before adding he was signing for Norwich and “really [excited] to get started with such a great club”.
