Real Madrid and Arsenal are close to an agreement for Dani Ceballos to stay for another season on loan, according to reports in Spain.
AS report that a deal is ‘almost done’ for Dani Ceballos to join Arsenal on another loan next season. The player’s relationship with Zinedine Zidane isn’t very good, so with the coach still in charge at Real Madrid, another move was always likely this summer.
The Times also posted an update to say that the midfielder is “close to extending” his loan.
The player already made it clear in the media that he’s keen on extending his loan. He admitted he’s happy at Arsenal and the transfer is a ‘good step’ for him. However, he also added that Real Madrid have the final say.
As I said when covering those quotes, Arsenal shouldn’t hesitate at the chance for another loan. In any other summer, I’d prefer the permanent transfer, but this isn’t an ordinary window.
Getting a player like Ceballos in but putting off permanent transfer negotiations to next summer frees up the minor funds Arsenal do have for other positions. If they can get an option to buy in the new loan deal, however, that would be even better.
