Manchester City don’t see Dani Ceballos as a priority target this summer, despite some reports to the contrary in Spain recently.

Diario Madridista reported that City hold an interest in signing Dani Ceballos this summer, with Pep Guardiola a huge admirer of the player. However, Manchester Evening News understand that he isn’t a priority signing for the club.

With David Silva leaving at the end of the season, there are obviously going to be rumours about incoming midfielders to replace him. But MEN report that Phil Foden is likely to step up into the role, rather than a new signing.

That’s certainly good news for Arsenal. There’s no way they can afford a bidding war with Manchester City.

Recent reports suggest Arsenal are growing confident of bringing Ceballos back to North London next season. It’s not entirely clear whether they’ll push for another loan move or a permanent deal. But they’re keen to bring him back either way.

The player himself also seems very positive about the possibility of another Arsenal move. It’s all in Real Madrid’s hands, though. If they don’t want him to leave this summer, he has three years on his contract, so there’s not much anyone else can do.
