Arsenal are looking into bringing Dani Ceballos back for next season, with Mikel Arteta very happy with the on-loan midfielder.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta confirmed they’re having conversations with Arsenal about bringing Ceballos back for next season.

Ceballos signed for the club last summer on a one-year loan, later extending the deal to the end of the current campaign. However, given his recent form, many Arsenal fans are hoping to see him return again next season.

“Well, that’s a conversation that we’re having with the club to see what we can do in the future with him,” Arteta said. “But I’m really, really happy with his progress and how much he’s improving and giving to the club.

“I always say as an example, he’s a loan player, but when you see how he celebrates for every goal and the way he trains every day and how much he cares, I’m really happy with him.”

Ceballos is a regular in the Arsenal team whenever he’s fit enough to feature. He played some part in every single game under Unai Emery until his injury. Then every single game from Newcastle United on February 16th onwards.

The only time he appeared in a game and then dropped to the bench afterwards was the Bournemouth FA Cup tie in January. He sat with the substitutes against Burnley after that, before starting his latest run of 15 consecutive appearances.

There are few others in the squad with a selection record that consistent. The midfielder can hardly suggest that a return next season would damage his chances of making the Spain squad for the European Championships.

Arsenal now need to convince player and club to let him join on another loan or find the funds for a permanent deal this summer.
