El Confidencial report that Arsenal are asking Real Madrid for another loan for Dani Ceballos next season. The problem is that Florentino Perez prefers a permanent transfer and to cash in now, as they did with Achraf Hakimi.

The outlet expect Ceballos to have other offers, including from former club Real Betis, but he’s happy at Arsenal. So the player himself will help push the loan angle. Still, the most likely compromise is a loan with a purchase option of around €20m.

Obviously, any other club coming in with a serious offer for a permanent deal could mess things up. Madrid are more likely to go for that if they can, so Arsenal essentially need to hope no one gives the La Liga club that option.

Ceballos is up to 34 appearances for the season, despite a fairly serious muscle injury in November. He’s had two very long runs in the side when fit, which will certainly keep him happy ahead of the European Championships next summer.

If Arsenal could get the 23-year-old in permanently, it would be the kind of deal the fans want to see. A young player with experience who improves the side and would be joining on a relatively low fee. It’s up to Raul and co. to get it done.
