Arsenal have failed in their bid to get Eddie Nketiah’s red card overturned meaning he must now serve a three-game suspension.

It seemed unlikely that Arsenal would be successful in their appeal, but given we saw an identical challenge punished with a yellow and no VAR review in the West Ham game 24 hours later, there was, perhaps, a slim hope.

That would have meant something going right for Arsenal, so the ban was, naturally, upheld and he will now miss the next three games.

Luckily, they aren’t against anyone important.

On the flip side, despite Jamie Vardy’s clear intent in swinging his leg at Shkodran Mustafi’s head, making contact with the German’s face, the Leicester man will be free to play in all remaining matches.

Only Arsene Wenger can save us now…
