Juan Manuel Calderón, who was also in the car, was hospitalised in a serious condition.

It was reported that Calderón was badly burned trying to save Reyes when the car was on fire.

Reyes played for Arsenal between 2004 and 2007. He also represented Sevilla, Real Madrid, Benfica, Espanyol, Cordoba, Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard, and Extremadura.

He was 35 when he died.
