Mavropanos only played the first 45 minutes of Nurnberg’s 0-0 draw with VfL Bochum at the weekend, coming off at half-time as his club’s Twitter account confirmed he was having ‘muscular problems’.

Since then, Nurnberg wrote that their club coach has given Mavropanos the ‘all-clear’. Though the defender did stay in the locker room for a break due to muscular issues, he didn’t suffer any structural injury.

Arsenal journalist Chris Wheatley, who also represents Mavropanos on social media, tweeted out to confirm the player is ‘ok’.

The rumours we’re hearing are that Nurnberg are just staying cautious with the loanee right now. They know of his injury problems in the past, and they’ve already had to deal with one short-term injury since his January move.

It’s a case of avoiding any unnecessary risks. Mavropanos played 90 minutes on the previous Friday, 90 minutes on Tuesday and then started again on Saturday. If he’s feeling any muscle tightness, it’s not worth the risk of him completing another 90.
