Matteo Guendouzi is still focusing on finishing the season with Arsenal before assessing his options this summer, according to a report.

The Telegraph report that Matteo Guendouzi remains “committed” to finishing the season with Arsenal before making any decisions on his future. He missed the last couple of games following his post-match incident with Neal Maupay at Brighton, but clearly isn’t expecting to miss out on the rest of the campaign.

The same outlet add that Guendouzi reportedly made it clear he wouldn’t be against leaving the club this summer. But at this point, no decision is close and he’s focusing on his football.

I think it’s worth pointing out that Guendouzi did play at least fairly regularly outside of his disciplinary incidents under Mikel Arteta. If you exclude the three games he missed for those off-field reasons, he appeared in 12 of the 16 available to him in all competitions.

More than that, he was in the starting lineup for the very first game back after the break. Arteta could have picked any fit players for that match, a big game with no need to rotate. Guendouzi was hardly out of favour.

Arsenal still have another seven league games and a cup semi-final against Manchester City to come. There’s plenty still to play for before the transfer window opens. Let’s see where we are at that point.
