Spanish outlet Marca (via Sport Witness) report that Ceballos is making it clear he wants to leave Arsenal and play in Spain next season. Valencia are reportedly keen on signing him, pushing for a deal back in January.

At the time, Real Madrid preferred Ceballos to complete his loan move with Arsenal. The player was worrying about his playing time ahead of Euro 2020, hence why he considered the Valencia move. Since then, however, he started playing regularly under Mikel Arteta again.

Despite that recent run in the team, he thinks he’ll have a better chance of impressing those in charge of the Spanish National Team if he’s playing in his home country in 2020/21.

Valencia boss Albert Celades thinks Ceballos will fit in well and make a nice alternative to Dani Parejo.

Ceballos featured against Manchester City on Wednesday, playing 82 minutes of the 3-0 defeat. He didn’t start the match, but he was Arteta’s first port of call when Granit Xhaka went off injured.

Presumably, he’ll now get a run in the starting lineup in Xhaka’s place. Arsenal will hope to extend his loan deal at least in the short term, but the long-term chances aren’t looking good.
