Five months after Arsenal unveiled the signing of Cedric Soares, he is finally ready to play his first game for the club, according to their latest team news update.

In Cedric’s defence, he wasn’t out with injury the entire time. He missed the first month with his knee issue but just as he was ready to play, COVID-19 forced the season to a halt.

Then, right as football came back, the right-back picked up a nasal fracture. Thankfully, he’s back now.

Another piece of good news is that Lucas Torreira is back in full training. Arsenal write that Torreira, David Luiz and Mesut Özil are all “being assessed” for Norwich, which normally means they’ll miss out. But at least they’re all closer to their comebacks.

Even better, Bernd Leno is now aiming to return to training in four weeks, as opposed to the “four to six” in the last update.

On the other side of things, there’s no change with Pablo Mari, Gabriel Martinelli or Calum Chambers.

Mari should return to full training in two to three months, after successful surgery. Martinelli and Chambers are out for this season (meaning the next month, not a full season) with no return date yet.

This is all pretty good news. It’s positive progress for Torreira, Cedric and Leno, and seemingly no long-term injuries for Özil and Luiz. The other three are in the same situation as after the last update.
