Goal report that Mavropanos is catching the eye of various Bundesliga clubs, playing for FC Nurnberg in the German second tier. More than five had already registered their interest and are keen to sign him permanently.

The defender himself prefers to stay with Arsenal in London. He’s happy to fight for his place with the Gunners if that’s an option, but he does want the chance to play regularly.

From the club’s perspective, Arsenal obviously need money this summer, as with most teams around Europe. They have an excess of centre-backs in the squad right now, so moving one or two of them on would also make sense.

Whether this is the right time to sell Mavropanos is another question. The 22-year-old still has another three years on his Arsenal deal, so there’s no rush. If they do want to sell, though, that contract will give them a stronger negotiating position.

Mavropanos reached double figures for appearances on loan with Nurnberg in their draw with Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.
