Brighton are offering season ticket holders the chance to buy a personalised cardboard cut-out of themselves to be displayed in the stands when football returns behind closed doors, starting with their game against Arsenal.

The Seagulls first game of ‘Project restart’ will be Arsenal’s second, but the Amex may be filled with life-sized cutouts rather than just vast swathes of empty seats.

“We are asking fans to don their blue and white matchday attire and send in their picture to be part of the remaining five matches of the season to be played at the Amex,” a statement said on their official website.

“With the last five games of the 2019/20 season taking place behind closed doors, the club is offering season-ticket holders and MyAlbion+ members the chance to purchase their own personalised cut-out to be positioned at the Amex for the final five home matches.

“The cut-out fans will be positioned in the upper tier of the East Stand, providing the team with some visual support for these important games and supporters are encouraged to wear colours to create a stand full of blue and white. Other areas of the stadium will feature other club and partner branding as part of a Premier League initiative.

“Personalised cut-outs cost £20 each, with a percentage of profits being donated to the Albion as One Fund. Cut-outs will take approximately seven working days from the date of ordering to be installed.

“The cut-outs will make their debut when we take on Arsenal on Saturday, 20th June.

“To ensure your cut-out is in the stand for the first weekend of matches your order must be placed no later than midday on Thursday 11 June. Orders after that date will have their cut-outs positioned for subsequent matches.

“Cut-outs will be positioned in consecutive blocks in central areas of the Upper East Stand. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to place cut-outs in specific seats, nor guarantee cut-outs of family and friends are situated next to each other due to the nature of the project.”

Arsenal travel to Brighton just a few days after they play Manchester City at the Etihad.

They then have another two away games before finally getting to play at home when they welcome Norwich to the Emirates in July.

Of the 11 games Arsenal have remaining, seven are away and four at home.
