ArsenalMatchday report on Twitter that Arsenal will wear yellow shirts, yellow shorts and yellow socks against Southampton on Thursday. As you can see above, the usual yellow kit involves a yellow shirt, blue shorts and yellow socks.

It’s another strange kit decision, a week after Arsenal travelled to Sky Blue Manchester City wearing their blue third kit. Arguably, a yellow shirt and yellow shorts would’ve made a lot more sense in that game.

This time around, it seems a bit unnecessary to change the shorts. Southampton wear a red and white top, black shorts and white socks. So none of that clashes with either Arsenal’s away kit, nor with their third kit.

They must have decided the blue shorts were just too similar to Southampton’s black. Personally, I’m not seeing the problem:

I suppose it’s good Arsenal are finding ways to keep the kit interesting for a few more weeks. The new shirts should come out sometime in the next month or so, so they’re really doing their best to wring the last drops of life out of these ones.
