Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness) claim Arsenal already have an offer ready to present to Sporting CP for Joelson Fernandes.

The young winger’s current club are trying to extend his contract and increase his release clause from €45m to €100m. The player’s father and his agent Kia Joorabchian are both fighting against that outcome.

Arsenal reportedly want to sign Joelson, along with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in Germany. The player’s current contract reportedly lasts until 2022, at which point he’ll still be just 19.

We covered claims last month from the same outlet that Arsenal were one of the clubs following Joelson. They wrote at the time that the player’s links with Joorabchian could push him towards the Premier League.

The left-winger played in Sporting’s u23 team for most of this season, making 28 appearances. He scored five goals and assisted two, also occasionally featuring on the right.

With his country, Joelson is a Portuguese u17 international, playing and scoring in the European Championship qualifiers in November. His club clearly rate him highly, but if the price is €45m I can’t see Arsenal paying up for a player so young and inexperienced.
