Arsenal reportedly hold an interest in West Ham United teenager Jeremy Ngakia, available on a free transfer at the end of the month.

West Ham insider ExWHUEmployee originally linked Arsenal to the defender, naming the Gunners among clubs looking to sign Ngakia this summer.

The Athletic add that the 19-year-old is likely to leave this summer after rejecting a three-year deal with the club, choosing instead to run down his contract to its expiry on June 30th. The outlet also mention the Arsenal links but add there’s ‘no certainty’ on their interest.

The right-back made his senior debut for West Ham earlier this year, featuring home and away against Liverpool. He did particularly well in the away game, even if Lukasz Fabianski howlers made sure they lost anyway.

He also played in the match against Arsenal directly before the break. For the most part, he had a pretty good game, bar one moment where Bukayo Saka turned him inside-out before playing in the ball that led to the winning goal.

Perhaps that game was where he caught the eye of Arsenal scouts, assuming the rumours are true.

Arsenal are almost certainly going to bring in a right-back this summer. Hector Bellerin has his injury problems and Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a midfielder again. It just looks much more likely they pursue a permanent deal for Cedric Soares.

If they’re looking for a cheaper and longer-term option, however, Ngakia is definitely available.
