Lucas Torreira is back out training at London Colney following his ankle injury, albeit on an individual basis for the time being.

Arsenal posted pictures on Saturday showing Lucas Torreira back in training at London Colney. They wrote that the midfielder is now working on the grass at the training pitches again as he ‘steps up his rehab’.

We covered pictures of Torreira’s initial return to grass running earlier this month. At the time, however, he was still abroad and working away from Arsenal. It’s good to see he’s now at the stage where he can rejoin the club.

There’s still work to be done ahead of football’s return on June 17th. The rest of the team are now in group training sessions with contact, so Torreira is still lagging a bit behind them. After that, he’ll have to rediscover his match sharpness – but so will everyone.

Before the pandemic, Torreira made more appearances than any other player this season. He was up to 33, marginally clear of five teammates below him on 32. Only 21 of those were starts, but he was still clearly a regular in the side.
