Spanish outlet Sport report that Barcelona are offering a ‘generous’ cut-price deal for Samuel Umtiti, valuing the defender at €30m. They’re hoping to get him off the books to raise some cash for their move for Lautaro Martinez.

Sport claim Arsenal and Manchester United hold a long-term interest in the player. Inter Milan are also considering a move, planning for the future given Diego Godin’s age.

The player himself wants to stay in Barcelona, but that doesn’t seem to matter much. If his club force him to leave, Umtiti would reportedly prefer a transfer to the Premier League.

There are no guarantees Arsenal could even afford a €30m (£27m) transfer fee this summer. The lack of matchday income will hit hard, as well any decrease in broadcasting revenue, prize money and European qualification funding.

It’s certainly much more achievable than the previous reports of €50m valuations, though.

If Arsenal do end up having any money to invest in a centre-back this summer, and if they do still have an interest in Umtiti, it’s a possibility. There are still a lot of conditions on the rumour right now.
