El Desmarque report that Arsenal are following Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos ahead of a summer move. They claim Mikel Arteta and his team are ‘attentive to what may happen’ with the defender.

Carlos is reportedly happy in Seville, but he knows there is interest in him. Liverpool started to make a move for him in January, which fell through for various reasons. The centre-back has a contract until June 2024 with a release clause of €75m.

Carlos is staying tight-lipped on his future, telling the Spanish media (via DMQ): “There is a lot of (transfer) news that comes out and that we see, but I don’t know. What I think is to finish the competition as well as possible and I leave that for later.”

Obviously, Arsenal aren’t going to pay the €75m clause. The La Liga club could hold onto the 27-year-old until he was 31, so they’re in a very strong position.

The only way a deal could realistically happen is if Sevilla really needed the money – even at a cut-price rate – and Arsenal actually manage to earn some between now and the end of the summer window. Whether by finishing high in the table or selling players.
