Real Madrid have made an initial enquiry over the availability of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a summer transfer, according to reports in France.

France Football (via GFFN) report that Real Madrid recently placed their initial enquiry for Aubameyang. The report suggests Arsenal would have to offer a ‘supernormal’ salary or accept losing him in June 2021 if they don’t sell this summer.

The media have also linked Aubameyang with a move to Barcelona recently, mostly because his father recently acquired a house in the area. However, France Football’s information solely relates to Real Madrid.

At this stage, it’s just an enquiry. Real Madrid aren’t making an offer just yet. Inter Milan are also keeping an eye on the situation as it develops.

On the other side of things, we did cover reports from Spain yesterday suggesting Real Madrid are putting their faith in Luka Jovic’s development. As we pointed out at the time, this does make a move for Aubameyang less likely.

Firstly, if they have Jovic, Benzema and Diaz, their need for Aubameyang isn’t particularly great. Secondly, the earlier reports of Real interest in Aubameyang suggested they could offer Jovic in exchange. If that’s not the case, Arsenal have less incentive to sell.

The end of the season is obviously going to have an impact on a potential deal. Aubameyang’s form and Arsenal’s finishing position will both play a big part. So I wouldn’t expect more than an enquiry, for now.
