Voetbal International report that Feyenoord are struggling to convince Kokcu to sign a contract extension. Most recently, the player ignored a second offer from technical director Frank Arnesen.

The difference between his demands and what they’re offering is still too great. Kokcu has a contract until 2023, so it’s not like his deal is about to expire. However, that will only take him to age 22, so you can see why his club might want to extend or cash in.

Chelsea and ‘especially’ Arsenal are following the midfielder, according to the report. From Spain, he also has admirers in Sevilla, Real Betis and Valencia.

Frank Arnesen recently confirmed Sevilla’s interest, whilst Feyenoord head coach Dick Advocaat suggested he understands the Arsenal interest is real. Whether they’re still chasing him now – post-pandemic – is another matter.

Kokcu made 35 appearances this season, scoring three goals and assisting six. The Eredivisie is off after Dutch lawmakers banned professional sports until September. As a result, the teenager could fully focus on a potential transfer if he wants to.
