Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s father got Arsenal fans excited about a contract extension on Friday, but I’m afraid the evidence isn’t particularly convincing.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s father, Pierre, sent Arsenal fans into overdrive about a contract extension with a post on his Instagram story on Friday.

An Arsenal fan page posted “You know what you have to do bro”, along with a picture of Aubameyang signing a contract. The fan page tagged Aubameyang and his family in the post, and the player’s father reposted it to his own story.

To Arsenal fans on Twitter, this meant he was encouraging his son to sign a new deal. Aubameyang’s father also acts as his agent, so this was particularly exciting to them.

I’m afraid I just don’t see it. To me, this is just a man reposting a picture he was tagged in. Maybe he didn’t even read the caption, or he didn’t know what it meant. Or maybe he did and just reposted it for the picture anyway.

We all hope relations are good between the Aubameyangs and Arsenal right now. I’d say this is a suggestion that they haven’t fallen out with the club, at least. Past that, it’s hard to read much into such a small thing.
