Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Inter Milan is starting to gain momentum, with the Arsenal striker already in contact with players at the club.

That’s according to Le10Sport, who report that Aubameyang talking to Inter Milan players over a possible move. The French outlet claim Inter are pushing for a transfer behind the scenes, with Antonio Conte convinced of the striker’s potential.

Aubameyang himself would reportedly like a return to Milan, even if it isn’t with AC. With only a small possibility Arsenal play in the Champions League next season, he’s starting to look elsewhere.

The main problem is the 30-year-old’s salary (31 this summer). Inter can’t match Aubameyang’s current wages, and this is certainly an obstacle to his arrival.

Le10Sport conclude by saying Arsenal are already looking for a replacement. They view the chances of Aubameyang starting for the Gunners next season as ‘more than slim’.

Personally, I’m not sure about that. The coronavirus shutdown will make a lot of clubs act very conservatively in the summer market. It’s going to be a nightmare trying to bring big-name players in, so selling your stars is a much bigger risk.

Arsenal probably won’t get good value for Aubameyang this summer. Not just because his contract expires in 2021, though that is a factor. More because he’ll be 31 and no one has much money to spend.

He’ll be worth more giving another season to Mikel Arteta’s team on the pitch. Even if that means leaving for free afterwards.
