Sport Witness cover claims from Defensa Central and AS that Arsenal are setting their sights on Gelabert. The Gunners are doing their best to lure the 19-year-old away from Real Madrid. In particular, Arteta is leading the way on the potential signing.

The 38-year-old reportedly watched Gelabert play against Spurs and Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League in 2017/18. The youngster caught Arteta’s eye, and he came back to watch him again subsequently.

Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais all apparently probed the situation, given Gelabert’s contract expires in the summer of 2021. Madrid don’t particularly want to sell, considering the player very promising.

This season, Gelabert returned from injury problems to make 13 league appearances for Real Madrid Castilla. He played a number of positions, including on both wings and at attacking midfield.

If he continues to impress when football eventually returns, we’ll see if that leads to a bid when the transfer window opens.
