Arsenal are in constant contact with Stade de Reims over their 22-year-old defender Axel Disasi, according to reports in France.

L’Equipe (via Le10Sport) report that Arsenal may turn to Ligue 1 again to help strengthen their defence, with Axel Disasi of Reims on their radar. The Gunners have been in ‘constant contact’ with Disasi’s club since the start of the year.

The young centre-back only has a contract until 2021, although Arsenal would face plenty of competition from other clubs in England, France, Italy and Germany.

Disasi is a regular in the Reims starting lineup, making 32 appearances so far this season. He helped push the side up to fifth in Ligue 1 before the shutdown, ahead of the likes of Nice, Lyon, Montpellier and Monaco.

Disasi is a France u20 international, but he’s yet to make his senior debut. His 2019/20 campaign earned him a lot of praise in France, and DR Congo were pushing for him to join up with their squad in March.

The signing would certainly represent a bit of a left-field move, given all the talk about the Upamecanos and Boatengs of European football.

That’s never a major surprise when it comes to Arsenal, though. A young player with a short contract in good form is very much on brand.
