Arsenal loanee Mkhitaryan got the assist for the AS Roma second goal on Sunday, and on current form that’s no surprise. The 31-year-old recently returned from a thigh muscle strain, and he quickly started getting involved in the goals.

After a goal on his comeback against Bologna at the start of the month, Mkhitaryan’s form really picked up this week. He provided an assist and scored against Lecce last Sunday in a 4-0 win. Then he got another crucial assist in a draw against Gent on Thursday.

Roma went behind against Cagliari early on in their weekend fixture, but they quickly rallied to retake the lead. After Nikola Kalinic’s equaliser, Mkhitaryan assisted the same man again to make it 2-1.

The winger then scored in the second half, albeit the slightest of touches on a Kolarov delivery.

That’s six goal contributions in the last month, five in the last three games. Form like that is obviously a boost, whether for Arsenal’s hopes of selling the player or reintegrating him next season.

In all honesty, most Gunners supporters would probably prefer the former. You never know what’s going to happen though. Mkhitaryan certainly has to stay fit if the club are going to find a buyer. For now, it’s just good to see him finding his feet creatively.
