Gabriel Martinelli will join up with the Brazil u23 team for their friendly matches in March, a further sign he’ll join them for the Olympics this summer.

The Brazil National Team announced on their social media accounts that Gabriel Martinelli is in the u23 squad for their friendly matches later this month.

The u23s recently qualified for the Olympics through their tournament in January. On that occasion, Arsenal didn’t allow Martinelli to leave his club duties for it. In fairness, the 18-year-old then contributed to three goals in four starts in January.

The upcoming Brazil u23 games aren’t important in terms of qualification. They’re just preparation for the summer and another chance to impress with the country. Plus, this time the matches fall within an actual recognised international break.

It’s another sign that Martinelli will choose Brazil for his senior future as well. Jorginho was reportedly trying to convince the teenager to join him with Italy in the international break, but that’s not happening.

The Brazil National Team officials doubled their efforts in response, travelling to visit Martinelli in London. It appears they’re winning the race right now.
